About the Company
A global EPC organisation listed on the London Stock Exchange is seeking a Grid Connections Manager to support its expanding UK Renewable Energy division with a growing portfolio of utility‑scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects.
About the Role
The role of the Grid Connection Manager will ensure effective coordination with network operators and delivery partners, providing technical leadership across HV and MV systems to support the successful integration of large‑scale Solar PV and BESS projects into the UK electricity network.
Key Responsibilities
* Taking a central role in the supervision of the electrical and civil connection design ensuring all permits are in for construction.
* Prepare PGMD application and submissions for approval process with the DNOs.
* Reviewing planning documentation and ICP/HV subcontractor designs ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
* Reviewing project design and contractual documentation ensuring project delivery is on time and in budget.
* Preparing ICP/HV subcontractor tender documentation and assist with negotiation.
* Liaising with DNOs, TSOs and ICPS/HV subcontractors to obtain the most cost‑effective connection.
* Prepare submissions for power systems studies for our battery and solar projects.
* On‑site supervision during the construction and commissioning phase.
* Review grid power studies for various solar and battery projects.
* Help to identify issues and proactively take preventive measures to mitigate any project risks.
* Identify the source of likely problems and proactively take preventative measures to avoid any delays.
* Address project‑specific operational issues requiring on‑site presence to confirm solutions.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
* Qualification: Electrical Engineering MSc / MEng / BSc / BEng or equivalent.
* Project Manager with 3+ years experience working for an ICP.
* Experience in solar PV and BESS.
* Experience working with TSO, DNO in the UK.
* Fluent in English (written and spoken).
* Good commercial knowledge and understanding.
