Job Title: Infrastructure Architect / DevOps Engineer
Location: Remote (UK or Madrid)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Architect to design and deliver the infrastructure for our SampleManager LIMS application hosted in the AWS cloud. The ideal candidate will ensure our infrastructure demonstrates high availability, scalability, fault-tolerance, quality, and security. They will also support our engineering teams with automated processes to improve efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Architect and implement AWS infrastructure tailored to the specific needs of our LIMS application.
2. Design, implement, and maintain secure network topologies including perimeter security and security of data in transit and at rest.
3. Automate deployment of various architecture types for hosting monolithic or microservice-based applications.
4. Provide second line support to observe, investigate, and resolve infrastructure-related issues in collaboration with our services and support teams.
5. Implement continuous improvements in further releases of the infrastructure.
6. Collaborate with software and test engineers to ensure cloud-friendly solutions.
7. Support the development team with automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Azure DevOps, including orchestration of the test automation suite.
8. Align with corporate infrastructure and security policies for cloud-hosted environments.
9. Participate in the development process according to our documented SDLC, QMS, and secure development practices. Support product releases in line with the roadmap.
10. Identify opportunities to implement automation and improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience using Amazon Web Services technologies including EC2, RDS, Route53, S3, Lambda, FSx, IAM, EKS, ECR, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and VPC.
3. Experience running medium to large scale multi-tier distributed systems with the Microsoft technology stack, Docker, Kubernetes, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
4. Ability to create and maintain IaC templates using CloudFormation and TerraForm.
5. Knowledge of agile software development and release management processes.
6. Proficient in effectively prioritizing and carrying out tasks in high-pressure scenarios.
7. Exceptional customer service orientation.
8. Systematic approach to problem-solving and strong sense of ownership.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
10. Proficiency in standard methodologies for secure application hosting.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Acquired AWS or other recognized cloud certifications (e.g., Azure or Google Cloud).
2. CI/CD expertise and practical experience in Azure DevOps, GitHub, CodeQL, JFrog, YAML, etc.
3. Experience configuring and integrating applications with third-party SSO providers.
4. Experience with databases: configuration, management, and diagnosing and resolving issues.
5. Experience in domains such as LIMS, Pharmaceutical R&D, Chromatography, Laboratory automation.
6. Visual Studio, C#, and .NET development experience.
7. Experience working with a global, international team.
Work Environment:
1. The position will be remote within the UK or Madrid.
2. Potential travel for in-person meetings.
3. Requires flexibility for occasional work across multiple time zones.
