Overview
As an Associate Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex building services projects, managing multidisciplinary teams and maintaining strong client relationships. Tetra Tech, a global leader in high‑end consulting and engineering services, is seeking an experienced Associate Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team in either Birmingham or Leicester. With a strong UK presence and a reputation for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions, Tetra Tech works across a wide range of sectors including Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Defence. Responsibilities
* Leading the mechanical or electrical design process from concept to completion
* Overseeing the production of detailed calculations, specifications, and technical drawings
* Managing project delivery, including resource planning, budgeting, and quality assurance
* Conducting site inspections and supporting construction‑stage activities
* Collaborating with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines
* Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers, supporting their development
* Contributing to business development, fee proposals, and bid submissions
* Promoting sustainable design and innovation across all projects
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
* Proven experience delivering building services projects within a consultancy environment
* Strong leadership and project management skills
* Excellent communication and client‑facing abilities
* Commercial awareness and experience with project cost control
* Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Hevacomp, IES, Dialux, Relux)
* Full UK driving licence
