Detailed job description and main responsibilities Job Summary The post holder will be an integral part of the Planning structure and will support and be accountable to the Trust Head of Strategic Financial Planning in the provision of an effective and efficient Planning and Cost Improvement reporting function across the Trust, which ensures the delivery of high quality patient centred services within the resources available. They will work with the Trust Head of Strategic Financial Planning and colleagues in other directorates as appropriate to ensure plans are modelled correctly. The post holder will maintain and update the Trust Long Term Financial Model (LTFM). They will conduct scenario based financial modelling and provide support to the annual budget setting processes. The corporate nature of this role requires the post holder to work closely with members throughout the organisation. The post holder will regularly maintain and refresh the Trust LTFM, accurately modelling assumptions and adjustments to reconcile to the Trust financial statements. The role will also link to other aspects of the planning and cost improvement finance function including supporting the Head of Finance - Transformation with the Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) together, ensuring that all CIP related information data and outputs are maintained and provided to meet business needs and allow for timely responses to queries received. In addition to core planning and LTFM maintenance, the post holder will support the Trust Head of Strategic Financial Planning in health economy wide financial modelling for the NHS and local authorities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR). The post holder will support financial input to business cases, projects and bids across the Trust. The post holder will, under guidance from the Trust Head of Strategic Financial Planning, provide financial and other appropriate training and advice to staff at the Trust. They will also provide support and training opportunities to finance trainees within the organisation and also to any other new starters as required within the organisation. Budget The post holder will support the Trust Head of Strategic Financial Planning with the annual budget setting process, including completion of templates and consolidation of plans and reserves during the budget setting process. Linked to this is the triangulation of use of Whole Time Equivalent (WTE) data to align to workforce plan submissions together with integration of CIP plans. Staff The post holder has no line management responsibility. Policy The post holder will provide operational advice on the full range of financial planning, contributing and supporting Trust-wide policies where relevant. Communications Support the Trust Head of Strategic Financial Planning and the Head of Finance - Transformation to effectively manage the Financial Planning and CIP service. This will involve a close working relationship to seek corrective action where necessary and to shape the provision of a more efficient service that meets the needs of the Financial Planning function. The post holder will act as a point of contact for issues identified within the finance team and identify and communicate the sharing of good practice.
