Job Title: Quality Engineer

Location: Telford with 2 days/week in office
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000

Job Description:
Quality Engineers are the custodians of quality within the scrum team, who implement the Core Modernisation Test Strategy and Project Test Approaches defined by the QA and QA Service Leads.
They embody the Quality Engineering approach:
1. Ensuring quality is a full team responsibility across all test levels
2. Governing and supporting the whole team to follow best practice
3. Achieving the appropriate level of test coverage throughout the test lifecycle
4. Enabling the use of automated tools to 'shift left' quality assurance and reduce risk - shortening the feedback loop for proving features
5. Ensure applications are built to be tested via automation.
6. Supports manual testing when all automation avenues have been exhausted.
Main roles and responsibilities include:
7. Designing and implementing test solutions and the automation to support these, often from scratch, by applying best practice approaches
8. Applying structured testing and automation approaches, utilising technologies aligned with TDD/BDD
9. Bringing a breadth of experience of testing within the CI/CD lifecycle, its supporting technologies and experience of automation testing frameworks
10. Applying test approaches and applying risk-based testing methodologies
11. Upskilling the engineering team to increase QA capability as a whole team responsibility
12. Implementing test design techniques, strong test analysis skills
13. Knowledge of databases and test data creation
14. Applying best practices when identifying and managing Test data
15. Responsible for the quality of the testing collateral
16. Broad knowledge of test levels across Unit, System, Functional and Integration along with NFR testing (typically performance, accessibility, and security testing)
17. Analyse complex business requirements, business processes, and technical architectures and designs. Uses these as the basis for the Testing solution.Quality Engineers are expected to be, or become, T-shaped, able to operate across the product stack, including involvement in development activities through pair-programming techniques.
