Overview
The Duty service in Wigan consists of 5 duty teams and a Duty Academy, you will be on Duty one week in five and have the support of a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner and a Senior Social Worker. Families who we work with in Duty require our expert assessment and intervention skills at the very first stage of assessment and support.
Responsibilities
* Work on one of the five Duty teams within a 5-week Duty cycle, going on Duty 1 in every five weeks.
* Contribute to the initial assessment and intervention for families at the first stage of support.
* Engage in fast-paced duty cases with varying levels of complexity and participate in defined case transfer points (Initial Child Protection Case Conference, first CLA review, first PLO meeting, third CIN meeting).
* Work to determine the most appropriate long-term team for each family after the Duty assessment and intervention period.

* Ability to think quickly and be creative to overcome complex challenges and issues.
* Strong interpersonal and caring skills to support the needs of children, young people and families.
* Motivation to empower children and families to develop their own solutions and sustain long-term family plans.
* Good analytical skills to analyse, risk assess and interpret information to solve problems or develop plans.
