Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Transcriptionist Team Leader to join the St Helens Administrative Team. The post holder will provide comprehensive admin support to Consultants and Junior Medical Doctors in Community Mental Health Services.
About the Service
The community mental health teams work with people with severe and enduring mental health issues as well as those with less severe illness who have not responded to primary care interventions. Services are delivered in the most appropriate setting, primarily within the individual's own home, aiming to prevent unnecessary hospitalisation and facilitate rapid discharge.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, organise, direct and coordinate the work of the service.
* Organise own workload and coordinate workload activities within the team.
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
* Work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines.
Person Specification
Essential Knowledge and Skills
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non‑verbal.
* Excellent customer service delivery.
* Organise own duties and prioritise tasks within agreed timescales.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Audio‑typing skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to deal with difficult situations.
* Willingness to understand local targets to achieve relevant outcomes.
Experience (Essential)
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* Experience of information systems.
Desirable Experience
* Supervisory or management experience.
* Previous experience as a medical secretary.
* Experience with people experiencing mental health issues.
Qualifications
Essential
* AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent.
* RSA Level 3 or equivalent.
Desirable
* Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products.
