Margaret McMillan Nursery School is seeking an inspiring, compassionate and energetic Manager who is both a leader and a team player, curious, supportive and decisive.
Inspired by the pioneers of nursery education, Rachel and Margaret McMillan, Lady Nancy Astor purchased 24 Hoe Street in Plymouth in 1935 to provide nursery provision for under-privileged children in the vicinity. Today we continue to provide the very highest standards of child-care and learning. We provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for children from birth to five years of age, developing their creativity and individual personalities as well as helping them to grow in independence and confidence. Our outstanding OFSTED status reflects our passion and determination to achieve this. We are open fifty weeks of the year and can accommodate up to 62 children a day. We have a professional and dedicated staff team of 26 full and part-time staff.
Our Nursery Manager will be responsible for ensuring the nursery provides the best possible standards of care and education; ensuring the environment is safe and secure, where the children are valued as individuals through a child centred approach in all aspects of the nursery operations. It is also the Nursery Manager’s responsibility to ensure that the children have access to learning opportunities throughout their time at the nursery; providing learning activities which are educational, stimulating, fun and developmentally acceptable.
Working closely with our Business Manager, our Nursery Manager will both be accountable to the Board of Trustees for the successful management and delivery of the Charity’s services, the financial administration and people management. Our Nursery Manager will ensure that the nursery is financially sustainable by maintaining high occupancy all year round and managing all operating costs, so you are required to be financially astute. A background in early years education would be ideal but we are interested to hear from candidates who have a range of skills and experience.
