Job Responsibilities
* Deliver Expert Witness services by assisting our quantum experts in producing expert quantum reports for adjudication, litigation, and other dispute‑resolution processes.
* Provide Recovery service support by working with contract and commercial specialists to give strategic advice to clients whose projects and major programmes face commercial distress.
The successful applicant will work in a team conducting detailed analysis of construction projects in the UK and internationally. The role anticipates working from a local office as a base while also enabling remote work.
Essential Qualities
* Forensic and exploratory mindset
* Strong knowledge of the construction industry
* Understanding of construction contracts and the law
* Value transparency and collaboration
* Ability to work independently when required and adapt agilely to others’ working methods
Qualifications
* Relevant construction and engineering industry experience (10+ years)
* A construction‑related degree qualification and/or legal qualification
* Experience leading the pursuit of claims up or down the supply‑chain, culminating in successful negotiated resolutions
* Ability to understand and articulate client requirements and desired outcomes
* Critical analysis of project and major programme performance to identify root causes of issues
* Lead development of contract and commercial strategies to recover performance of distressed projects or major programmes in line with client outcomes
* Effective stakeholder management with the client and all levels of the supply‑chain, including chairing meetings when necessary
* Review and assess contemporaneous project records to establish quantum associated with claims and/or disputes
* Working knowledge of relevant applications and technologies in the quantity surveying and commercial management industry (e.g., BCIS, Cost‑X, CEMAR)
* Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of client claims and/or disputes, providing strategic advice on proceeding or amending the basis of claim
* Assist clients, lawyers and counsel in developing positions where required
* Lead drafting of detailed expert witness reports for use in formal dispute‑resolution proceedings
* Stay abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise
* Provide direction to staff working on specific tasks
* Support interface with the client and other consultants at all project stages
* Act as an ambassador championing the Contract Services delivered by Turner & Townsend in the industry
