To assist Regional Health & Safety Managers in ensuring A S Watson Companies (Superdrug, Savers, and The Perfume Shop) comply with all aspects of our Health & Safety Policy and Group Health & Safety Standards.
To create a positive approach to Safety, Fire Risk, Accident Prevention, and the health of all employees within their relevant Region.
To assist the relevant Regional Health & Safety Managers in providing advice, support, training, monitoring of stores, DCs, and offices to ensure compliance with our Health & Safety Policy, and to provide feedback on any related incidents that occur.
To coach employees on all aspects of health & safety matters to prevent work-related accidents and ill health, including extensive travel throughout the UK with overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the Business’s Health & Safety Policy and Standards are followed.
* Support the HOD and RH&SM in delivering high safety standards and fostering a positive safety culture.
* Represent the H&S team at Area Manager Meetings and Safety Committees.
* Ensure all management staff are aware of and understand our safety policies and standards.
* Conduct proactive inspections to ensure safety standards are met.
* Investigate accidents/incidents, recommend preventive actions, and report findings.
* Assist in delivering H&S training programs and on-site training.
* Maintain communication with HOD & RH&SM and develop relationships with regional managers.
* Liaise with external safety organizations and authorities.
* Stay updated on current health & safety legislation and guidance.
* Support project teams and property teams with H&S aspects.
* Audit contractors and ensure contractor safety systems are adequate.
* Provide data on accidents, illnesses, and safety-related incidents.
Knowledge and Skills
* Willingness to travel to various locations for store visits.
* Up-to-date knowledge of fire and health & safety legislation.
* Problem-solving and decisiveness skills.
* Proficiency in creating spreadsheets, documents, and presentations.
* Ability to understand and modify IT systems for audit programs.
* Effective data input and analysis skills.
* Teamwork and tailored communication skills.
Personal Qualities
Good communication skills, ability to build relationships, negotiate, present, and report. Analytical thinking, commercial awareness, motivation, and enthusiasm are essential.
Experience
* Experience in a building or fire risk assessment role.
* Experience in retail, travel, or hospitality environments.
* Experience conducting health and safety audits.
Qualifications and Training
* Recognized level six health & safety qualification (or working towards).
* Recognized fire safety qualification.
* Other relevant qualifications (as applicable).
* Full UK driving license.
