We are seeking a Safeguards SME to support Growth Projects by providing advice and guidance on all Safeguards aspects concerning new builds within the Westinghouse UK site.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Manager for delivery and to the Head of Security and Safeguards to ensure compliance with The Nuclear Safeguards (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (NSR 19).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safeguards by design expectations.
2. Understanding of The Nuclear Safeguards (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (NSR 19).
3. Familiarity with ONR Nuclear Material Accountancy, Control, and Safeguards Assessment Principles (ONMACS).
4. Ensure compliance with safeguards regulations and implement changes accordingly.
5. Advise on Nuclear Material Accountancy and Control ONR regulations, assessing impacts on new projects.
6. Liaise with stakeholders on international and national best practices.
7. Understand the Springfields Accountancy Control Plan.
8. Advise on safeguards requirements during all project phases.
9. Manage Nuclear Material Accountancy reports for stakeholders.
10. Coordinate with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) on reporting, audits, and assessments.
11. Ensure adherence to Safeguarding Springfields Site Instructions.
12. Act as a NUMIS superuser to support projects as needed.
13. Advise site management on safeguards requirements, including ONR expectations and guidance.
Qualifications:
* Degree, HNC/HND, or minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a similar role, with safeguards experience in a nuclear environment.
* Technical expertise in nuclear fuel safeguards issues and safety case implications for new builds.
* Ability to design and implement accountancy plans for new flows/facilities; engineering/operational plant experience.
* Experience supporting nuclear new build projects, including data analysis and reporting.
* Ability to interpret government guidance and regulations into policies and procedures.
