Overview
The Targeted Youth Support Team part of Lancashire County Council’s Children and Family Wellbeing Service are looking to recruit a 9 hour a week Assistant Youth Support Worker for Pendle District. The post is evening work – usually between 6:30-9:30pm across three evenings. The Service is a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention/early help agenda for Lancashire County Council, enabling young people to succeed by providing high quality informal education opportunities to promote their personal and social development.
Responsibilities
* Deliver core youth work, including detached/outreach work on the streets, Special Educational Needs & Disability support for young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 if SEN), and safe space targeted youth places.
* Support young people who are challenged in education, their communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.
* Engage in a curriculum that deepens a young person’s understanding of themselves, their community, and the world in which they live, supporting them to proactively bring about positive changes.
* Participate in district youth councils, linked to Lancashire Youth Council, and regional/national work.
* Offer enhanced programmes such as LGBTQ+ groups or specific issue‑based groups, including mental health groups.
Qualifications and Training
* Level 2 youth work qualification or commitment to complete it; Lancashire County Council will support you with time and cost.
* Enthusiastic, organised, and passionate about making a difference and changing young people’s lives.
