Career-Bridge Recruitment are working with a well respected and long-established construction contractor based in the South West, delivering high-quality construction, refurbishment, and fit-out projects across a range of sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, heritage, and residential.
As they continue to grow, they are looking to add a skilled Estimator to join their commercial team to support the delivery of successful tenders and profitable projects.
Role Overview
* You will be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates and competitive tenders for new construction and refurbishment projects.
* You will work closely with the pre-construction, procurement, and delivery teams to ensure bids are commercially viable and aligned with client requirements.
* Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates
* Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
* Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate and competitive pricing
* Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and scopes of work as needed
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure estimates align with project programmes and delivery plans
* Attend site visits and client meetings to support tender preparation
* Contribute to bid submissions, including pricing schedules and clarifications
* Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain developments
* Assist with handover to project delivery teams post-contract award
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in an estimating role within the construction industry (main contractor or subcontractor experience)
* Strong understanding of construction methods, drawings, and materials
* Ability to interpret and analyse technical documents, BoQs, and specifications
* Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
* Full UK driving licence (site visits required)
* HNC/HND or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIOB, RICS) is advantageous but not essential
