What will you do as a Pension Administration Apprentice?

Pension administrators look after pension scheme members and ensure they receive the right pension at the right time, advising them of their rights and benefits to help them make informed retirement decisions.

Key day-to-day tasks include:

* Communicating with clients, their members and advisers via email, letter, and telephone
* Processing client pension payrolls, including net pay calculations, arranging payments, liaison with tax offices and year-end returns
* Preparing computer-generated benefit calculations and related correspondence
* Attending team meetings to understand priorities and provide support as required
* Plus, various projects and other responsibilities

What qualification will I study?

In partnership with our training provider, you will study for the Workplace Pensions Administrator Level 3 qualification through the Pension Management Institute. The programme includes a skills coach, friendly mentors, and line managers to support your success in both role and study. We will also teach you how to use our systems and provide the pensions knowledge and skills needed to communicate information to members and advise clients.

Can I progress beyond the apprenticeship?

There are many career opportunities to explore beyond the apprenticeship. You will be encouraged to continue studying and developing your skills, with many apprentices moving into more senior roles within Barnett Waddingham.

What do we look for?

We are looking for a friendly, customer-focused approach with good attention to detail. You will be organised, have strong problem-solving skills, enjoy working with numbers, and be keen to develop new skills. Strong communication to build effective relationships with external clients and team members is important. You may already have relevant skills from employment (including hospitality/retail), work experience, volunteering, or hobbies/interests/sports.
