Role Summary
We are seeking a committed, resilient, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chorley, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Key Stage 2.
This long-term role runs until the end of the academic year and is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, engagement, and progress within a primary school setting. You will work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to help pupils access learning and develop positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting pupils with SEMH needs across KS2, both in and out of the classroom
* Providing one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual needs
* Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning
* Assisting class teachers with lesson delivery and classroom routines
* Promoting inclusion, consistency, and positive learning experiences
* Building trusting, supportive relationships with pupils
Essential Criteria
* Experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEMH-focused setting
* Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, or a strong interest in this area
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Ability to uphold clear boundaries and positive behaviour expectations
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
