Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a great opportunity for enthusiastic self-motivated Maintenance and Overhaul Technicians to join our team based in Edinburgh.
Location: Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre, Edinburgh

Accountabilities
In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for undertaking overhaul, modification, corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing, complex fault finding and repair on our fleet of ScotRail Class 385 and Lumo Class 803 trains.
This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that values collaboration, adaptability, and innovation. You will be working on a rotating day and night shift basis, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of our rail services.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
1. Undertake overhaul and modification duties as directed by the Team Leader
2. Perform Scheduled Maintenance activities on rolling stock within the TMC in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions.
3. Undertake servicing and preparation of rolling stock.
4. Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities.
5. Support the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes.
6. Ensure exam tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required.
7. Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.
8. Attendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
9. Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
10. Support the Maintenance Team Leaders and Production Managers in the delivery of the production plan.
11. Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
12. Working shifts to meet the service requirements of Hitachi customers within the TMC.
13. Assist as required.
About you
Required Skills/ Knowledge
14. Can comfortable work within a team or on their own
15. Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)
16. Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
17. Calm and diplomatic under pressure.
18. Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.
19. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
20. Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
21. Loyal, committed, confident and determined.
Education/Qualifications
22. Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines.
23. Engineering based NVQ level 3.
Behavioural
24. Calm and diplomatic under pressure.
25. Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.

Desired Skills (not essential)
27. Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
28. Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings reading
29. Fire warden, First Aider
30. Powered plant and tools – cranes, air systems / 110v tools.
31. Depot Protection
32. Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation
