Band 4 Civilian Dental Nurse – Defence Primary Healthcare

Location: Dental Centre Bicester; 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working arrangements are considered.
Overview
Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) provides NHS‑standard dental care to members of the Armed Forces and other eligible personnel. This role supports the delivery of clinical and administrative services and contributes to operational readiness by reducing dental morbidity during deployments.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical and administrative support for dental care at DPHC dental centres.
* Enhance force generation and operational capability while minimising dental morbidity on operations.
* Support the NHS/Mod policies and standards in all activities.
* Participate in clinical case discussions, documentation, and patient care plans.
* Assist in continuity of care for patients when stationed at clinical sites.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Certificate or National Vocational Qualification in Oral Healthcare Dental Nursing Level 3.
* General Dental Council (GDC) registration – new applicants should obtain registration before starting.
* Evidence of indemnity cover for general dental practice; a personal professional indemnity is strongly encouraged.
* Evidence of current GDC Continued Professional Development (CPD) compliance.
* Full United Kingdom driving licence, if required for additional sites.
* Confidence in using information technology for patient records and communication.
* Prepared to cover out‑of‑hours dental duties as needed.
Security, Health and Legal Requirements
* Successful candidates must meet the required security check – general security clearance.
* Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B is required; serology levels will be checked.
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check must be completed.
* Applicants must declare any outside interests that may conflict with MOD work.
