This is a rare opportunity for an experienced engineering design Leader to join the in-house Design & Engineering function of a Tier One Contractor, where engineering is fully integrated with project delivery from concept through to construction.
Unlike a traditional consultancy environment, you'll have direct influence across the entire project lifecycle—shaping solutions, accelerating decision making, and seeing your designs delivered on site. You'll lead engineering and design services from feasibility through to completion, with a level of ownership, visibility, and impact that's difficult to find elsewhere.
The business is investing heavily in its engineering capability and is looking for a leader who wants to help shape the future of the function. Beyond project delivery, you'll play a key role in driving technical excellence, developing culture, influencing strategy, and supporting the continued growth of a high-performing engineering organisation.
Reporting to the Group Engineering Director, you'll enjoy significant autonomy and the support of a highly engaged leadership team. This role would particularly suit a senior engineering consultancy professional seeking a broader leadership position with greater influence over both engineering outcomes and business direction.
As Senior Director, designate 'Head of MEICA', you'll lead a multidisciplinary team of circa 90 design and engineering professionals across Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, and Control & Instrumentation disciplines. You'll oversee the delivery of complex engineering design solutions across major projects in the Energy, Water, Nuclear, Defence, and Transportation sectors.
To be successful, you'll have:
* A degree (or master's) in a relevant engineering discipline and Chartered status (IMechE, IET, or equivalent).
* Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex infrastructure projects.
* Strong technical leadership credentials, including design oversight, resource planning, change management, value engineering, and management of external design partners.
* A passion for continuous improvement, innovation, safety in design, and modern engineering delivery practices.
On offer is a salary of around £110,000, an annual bonus of up to 20%, a company car or £6,850 car allowance, generous pension contributions, private medical cover, and an excellent overall benefits package.
