Move-on Officer (Migration) – Housing Management Team

Our Housing Management team are looking for a Move-on Officer (Migration) to join us on a full time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract, working 37 hours per week.

(Any successful internal candidate will be offered the position as a secondment and, in line with Section 8.1 of the Secondment Policy, must consult with their manager before applying. Search ‘secondment policy’ on the intranet for more information).

At Bracknell Forest, we pride ourselves on being a council which is stable and well‑managed where our employees can thrive in a supportive environment. We understand the importance of a healthy work‑life balance and offer a variety of flexible working practices, including options for remote working and arrangements that allow you to work from home, dependent on the needs of the service.

About you

You will possess strong customer engagement skills with the ability to clearly explain and discuss available options. You will have the necessary knowledge to conduct comprehensive needs assessments including financial assessments. Utilising a range of resources and tools to support the move‑on process, this will ensure that households are successfully placed into suitable and affordable accommodation on the first attempt. With excellent communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines, you will be adept at managing your time and resources efficiently.

About the team

The Housing Management team is a busy team providing an extensive and responsive property management service to homeless clients placed into temporary accommodation.

Sitting within Welfare and Housing Services, the team supports each other by working closely together to achieve the right results and to deliver a holistic service to clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This role will also have close working links with the Migration Team and its customers who are accommodated as part of a national resettlement scheme. You will engage in diverse and challenging work every day, making it both rewarding and fulfilling, as we react to the demands of our homeless clients in temporary accommodation.

By providing safe accommodation, ensuring they meet all health and safety regulations, we help our clients to feel safe and secure and to get people back on their feet quickly.

These are just some of the things you will be supporting us to do when you join us.

Key responsibilities

Your main responsibility in this role will be to establish the most appropriate and sustainable route to re‑housing customers in transitional or temporary accommodation into settled, long‑term accommodation. This will include but not limited to households accommodated under national resettlement schemes and homelessness households placed in temporary accommodation.

Support households to move‑on through the following options:

* Find Your Own Scheme
* Private Rented Sector Offers (PRSO)
* Support with bidding strategies and qualifying offers
* Access to supported accommodation where appropriate

Identify suitable private rented accommodation and other housing pathways for clients. This includes advising and empowering households to source accommodation independently, providing guidance on available assistance and ensuring they understand their housing options.

This role is key to ensuring households are successfully moved on from both national resettlement scheme accommodation and temporary accommodation, contributing to sustainable rehousing outcomes and supporting the reduction of households in temporary accommodation year on year.
