The Orthotics Department at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre is seeking a motivated, organised, and technically minded individual to join our Production Team as an Orthotic Technician. We take pride in our integrated working approach, where skilled Technicians and Orthotists collaborate to deliver compassionate excellence for our patients. The service is widely respected within the profession for its quality and innovation.
This role involves the fabrication of a wide range of bespoke medical devices (orthoses). No previous experience or specialist knowledge is required, as full internal and external training will be provided. However, this is a predominantly technical, workshop‑based role that requires good hand skills, attention to detail, and confidence using tools and machinery. Experience with composite manufacturing would be an advantage although not essential.
Short‑listed candidates will be invited to complete a practical skills assessment as part of the interview process. All necessary personal protective equipment will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The role comprises of the fabrication of a wide range of bespoke medical devices ‘Orthoses’. Relevant experience within in a similar environment would be desirable however training both internal and external would be provided. Experience and expertise in composite manufacturing techniques would be of particular interest.
The post holder will be able to demonstrate excellent hand skills with an attention to detail while working under pressure to meet the departments service demands.
The post holder will be working as part of an established multi-skilled production team and will be working in all areas of the manufacture process.
The Orthotic service provides the assessment and provision of equipment and on-going care for individuals requiring external bracing supports. This key role within the Production department would suit a technically efficient person with good hand, machine and manufacturing skills. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team working closely with technical, clinical and administrative staff.
