Photography Teacher – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing from September 2026 The inspection evidence describes a positive and well‑organised school environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn. Teaching is purposeful and consistently high quality, with strong systems in place to support student progress and well‑being. This Photography Teacher role offers the opportunity to work full time in a progressive secondary school setting on a long‑term, ongoing basis. The Photography Teacher will deliver engaging and high‑quality teaching across the curriculum, contributing to both the academic and personal development of students. This role is ideal for an experienced and reflective Photography Teacher who values collaboration, creativity, and a child‑centred approach to education from September 2026. Duties as Photography Teacher: Provide a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students Deliver consistently high‑quality teaching that meets the needs of students with a range of abilities Provide regular, detailed feedback to support student progress and achievement Teach traditional analogue darkroom printing and film processing confidently Teach the safe use of electronic flash in studio and on location Teach Adobe Photoshop confidently; use of Adobe InDesign, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro is highly desirable Liaise with Learning Support and key staff to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development Communicate effectively with parents in line with school guidelines, including reports, meetings, and follow‑up of concerns Contribute to departmental development, including schemes of work and shared resources Actively participate in staff meetings, INSET, and professional development activities Support pastoral systems and, where required, provide cover for colleagues Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, including clubs and camps Ideal Photography Teacher: Holds a good honours degree and PGCE with secondary QTS Proven track record as an effective classroom teacher Excellent standard of written and spoken English Evidence of continuous professional development Strong understanding of monitoring, appraisal, and data systems Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Confident team player who shares best practice and engages in peer collaboration Enthusiastic, resilient, analytical, and reflective practitioner Strong commitment to student engagement and achievement Empathetic, sensitive, and able to maintain high professional standards Open to feedback, accountability, and continuous improvement Aligns with a child‑centred, progressive educational ethos and a ‘can‑do’ culture Why Step Teachers?
