Contentious Construction Senior Associate – Leading National Law Firm – London

A leading national law firm is seeking a Contentious Construction Senior Associate to join their busy team in London.


Role

You will join a specialist team who advise on a wide range of construction law advising clients in the private and public institutions, predominantly in health, local government, emergency services and social housing sectors.

The team advise on the full range of disputes that arise out of projects including procurement disputes, design and construction disputes, operational disputes and fire safety disputes and termination disputes.

You will focus on complex and high value construction disputes relating to JCT or NEC forms of contracts and will be responsible for your own caseload.


You

Please apply if you have at least 4 years PQE in contentious construction. You will have had experience of working at a large firm with an established construction team. It is important you have experience of JCT and NEC documents and the various stages of litigation.

A good working knowledge of construction contracts is required as well as disputes relating to payment issues, change, defects, termination and professional negligence.

You must have experience of dealing with your own caseload.

A well respected London‑based law firm is seeking a non‑contentious construction solicitor, with 2–5 years’ PQE, to join its highly regarded Construction team. This role will focus exclusively on non‑dispute work: advising on construction documentation, appointments, contract negotiation, and related commercial real estate issues.


What You’ll Do

* Draft, negotiate, and manage construction‑related documents such as JCT (and other standard form) building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties / third‑party rights, novation agreements, and surety/guarantee documentation.
* Provide procurement advice for different construction routes and contribute to decisions about the strategic procurement strategy.
* Work closely with real‑estate and development teams, giving construction input into wider real‑estate documentation (e.g., development finance, real‑estate acquisitions).
* Conduct due diligence on construction documentation as part of real‑estate or development transactions, and produce detailed legal reports on the construction risk.
* Support funders, developers, institutional investors, and private clients on the construction arrangements for projects (both for funding and development).
* Advise on building security documentation, third‑party rights, and the contractual packaging required by funders or end users.

About You

* Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 2–5 years’ PQE, preferably gained in a top‑tier real estate / construction practice.
* Strong technical legal knowledge: adept at drafting construction and consultant documents, amendments to standard contracts, security documentation, and third‑party rights.
* Good commercial judgement, able to balance risk with business objectives.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong drafting skills.
