Located in Runcorn, United Kingdom, our newly extended 120,000 sq. ft. facility is a fully integrated site offering comprehensive manufacturing, repair, and overhaul services to the major players in the landing gear industry.
Designated as a Center of Excellence, the facility specializes in surface treatment and assembly of small to medium-sized landing gear systems. Summary of position:
The Operations Improvement Lead plays a pivotal role in driving efficiency, productivity, and quality improvements within the operations of an aerospace manufacturing company. They spearhead initiatives aimed at process improvement, lean methodologies, and operational excellence to streamline processes, minimize waste, and boost performance across all operational areas. As a pivotal figure in driving operational excellence, the operations Improvement Manager leads efforts to implement lean methodologies, foster a culture of innovation, and promote continuous learning. Through their adeptness in process optimization and change management, they facilitate sustainable enhancements, contributing significantly to the organization's competitiveness and success.
Main responsibilities:
* Lead the development and execution of process support in alignment with organizational objectives.
* Identify improvement opportunities by analyzing existing processes, metrics, and stakeholder feedback.
* Utilize lean principles, and other tools to optimize processes and enhance efficiency.
* Plan, coordinate, and oversee cross-functional improvement projects to streamline operations and reduce costs.
* Collaborate with department heads and team leaders to define project scope, goals, timelines, and resource needs.
* Provide support and guidance to project teams to ensure successful project completion.
* Implement lean tools such as value stream mapping and visual management systems to improve workflow.
* Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
* Certification in Lean Six Sigma (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt)
* Proven experience (3+ years) in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or process optimization roles within aerospace manufacturing or related industries.
* Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities.
* Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
* Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving measurable improvements in operational performance and efficiency.
* Change management expertise and experience in driving cultural transformation initiatives.
* Proficiency in Lean tools and methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Poka-Yoke).
