Rotational Pharmacy Technician Band 4/5. Are you a registered Pharmacy Technician with a passion to improve patient care? This role is suitable for registered Technicians or those due to qualify soon who are looking to start their pharmacy career in a hospital environment. As a Band 4 you’ll rotate around the department in areas such as Technical Services, Supply Services (stores, homecare, procurement, distribution & logistics) and Patient Services (clinical/dispensary), whilst being supported to train to progress to a band 5.
Responsibilities
* Participate in a scheduled rotation through all sections of the pharmacy department.
* Undertake dispensing of prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner and use professional knowledge to ensure that such duties are performed in accordance with Good Dispensing Practice.
* Process and check ward requisitions for controlled drugs.
* Maintain competency as an accuracy checking technician by performing dispensary duties.
* Support the delivery, development and implementation of all aspects of the clinical pharmacy service.
* Maintain competency as a medicines optimisation technician by performing clinical pharmacy duties.
* Provide supervision, support, mentorship and training to Pharmacy Assistants in both the dispensary and clinical team.
* Act as a role model.
* Carry out all duties in accordance with Trust policies and with regard to legal and safety requirements.
* Apply excellent communication and self‑management skills with the ability to prioritise work.
Qualifications & Experience
Education / Training / Qualifications
* S/NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services plus accredited underpinning knowledge or equivalent qualification approved by the General Pharmacy Council.
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Completed Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS) Dispensing Accuracy Scheme (or equivalent).
* Completed PWDS Accredited Checking Technician (or equivalent) or willing to work towards this once in post.
* Working towards Pharmacy Leadership Programme or equivalent, or able to demonstrate ongoing competence in leadership skills.
* Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS) Medicines Management / Medicines Optimisation accreditation or willing to work towards this once in post (Desirable).
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
* Ability to dispense accurately.
* Demonstrate ongoing competence in both Medicines Management / Medicines Optimisation and accuracy checking of prescriptions (when accredited).
* Accurately input data and generate labels using the pharmacy computer system.
* Communicate effectively with pharmacy staff, hospital staff and patients/carers, both written and verbal.
* Proactive approach to application of knowledge gained to pharmaceutical practice.

* Registered as a Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC / or eligible to register within the next 3 months.
