ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a talented and driven Junior Sous Chef to join us at The Fox at Oddington. This is an exciting opportunity to progress your culinary career in a dynamic, high-paced kitchen environment. As a hands-on chef, you'll be confident running all sections of a high-end gastro pub, consistently delivering dishes to an exceptional standard. You'll be working with the finest, largely organic ingredients, many sourced directly from our neighbouring organic farm, with a focus on simplicity, sustainability, and seasonality. In the absence of the Sous Chef, you'll take responsibility for overseeing health and safety, ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations and kitchen standards. Professionalism is essential: you must be well-presented and possess a strong understanding of ordering, stock control, and menu development. Experience in writing staff rotas is also required. SALARY: 36000 Tronc HOURS: Full time 48 Hours RESPONSIBILITIES Execute all dishes in line with menu specifications Support the Sous Chef in creating seasonal, on-brand specials using farm-sourced produce Adhere to kitchen audit requirements and maintain compliance at all times Assist in upholding a safe and hygienic working environment in accordance with health and safety standards Ensure the cleaning schedule is consistently followed and maintained Monitor kitchen equipment to ensure it is operational, reporting and resolving any maintenance issues promptly Maintain awareness of stock levels and communicate low stock to the Sous Chef or Head Chef Support effective stock management to minimise waste and ensure availability Assist in managing kitchen orders to meet budgeted gross profit targets Understand and contribute to efficient labour cost management in line with payroll targets Support the training and development of junior chefs Lead by example through professionalism, strong work ethic, and commitment to high service standards YOUR OBJECTIVES: Support the Head and Sous Chef in achieving internal Food Tech standards of 85% or above Contribute to maintaining a 5-star food hygiene rating in collaboration with the Head/Sous Chef and the local EHO Assist the kitchen team in reaching key performance targets, including a 72% delivery rate Mentor junior chefs and complete training module sign-offs as part of their development Ensure all mandatory training is completed and kept up to date at 100% compliance Bring our purpose to life by driving meaningful social and environmental improvements, contributing to our journey as a B Corp, and aligning with our sustainability vision.
