Senior Therapist - A&E Therapy
The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the Emergency Department, driving changes to community care response to support the hospital avoidance agenda. They will work in line with the agreed strategic objectives of Northern Care Alliance. The aim of the team is to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions following attendance to the Emergency Department, by providing holistic therapy intervention and a person centred approach to enable patients to return to their own home or usual residence. The team works closely with community services to support the home first model.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, but also as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team within the Emergency Department. The candidate will be able to demonstrate strategic planning and have a strong clinical background in Urgent Care or a similar field. Excellent time management and advanced communication skills are required along with awareness and understanding of local, regional and national agendas in health and social care.
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience within urgent / emergency care
* Experience of management and/or leadership
* Conduct comprehensive therapeutic assessment including assessing for mobility aids / stairs / equipment / dressing aids
* Ability to effectively discharge plan complex patients
* Able to manage own time effectively including planning and prioritisation of both clinical caseload and leadership responsibilities
* Experience of participating in clinical audit
* Engaged in clinical supervision
Qualifications
* Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Degree
Professional Registration
* HCPC registration
* RCOT or CSP registered
