Job Overview The Adult Speech and Language Therapy Community Team in Betsi Cadwaladr Central have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic Band 6 Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team in a part time (3 days a week), fixed term post for one year. The adult community service provides assessment and treatment of patients with neurological conditions in domiciliary, outpatient and community hospital settings across Conwy and Denbighshire. The team also provide regular training to registered nurses and carers as well as feed into specific MDT clinics e.g. MS, Movement Disorders. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will have the specialist skills required in order to work independently with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, including successfully completed post-graduate dysphagia training. You will be able to deliver a comprehensive holistic dysphagia management plan in the context of multi- disciplinary working as well as be a team player contributing to service development. Experience working with adults with acquired neurological disorders is essential. Experience of community working is preferred but comprehensive induction and training will be provided as required. Applicants must be able to travel between sites. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S< HCPC registered Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio Desirable criteria Membership of appropriate clinical network group Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate Experience Essential criteria A range of clinical experience across Adult / Paediatric SLT services Delegation to non-registered staff Experience in service development / improvement Desirable criteria Delegation to registered staff Experience of leading multidisciplinary / multiprofessional teams Experience of delivering / supporting service change Welsh / English therapy provision Knowledge And Skills Essential criteria Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to problem-solve Knowledge of assessment tools Ability to self-evaluate Ability to work as a team member Varied clinical experience and knowledge Evidence of recent study in relevant clinical area Awareness of roles of other professionals involved in care of service users on agreed caseload Effective planning, time management and organisational skills Desirable criteria Advanced clinical reasoning skills Demonstrate understanding & involvement of clinical governance and risk assessment Ability to report statistical information / service data and present reports and documents to a high standard Welsh speaker
