A high school in the Wigan area has contacted Hays looking for an interim IT Technician to work onsite at the school. It's a purpose-built SEN secondary for learners aged 11–16 with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Your new role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled School ICT Technician to support the day‑to‑day running of our ICT systems. Reporting to the School Business Manager, you will help maintain our ICT infrastructure, support staff and students, and ensure our technology continues to enhance learning across the school.Your responsibilities will include:
1. Maintaining and developing the school’s ICT network
2. Providing technical support across a range of hardware and software
3. Troubleshooting issues with Windows devices, iPads, servers, networks and AV equipment
4. Supporting filtering and monitoring systems
5. Setting up and configuring devices, software and user accounts
6. Ensuringpliance with ICT‑related health and safety procedures
7. Liaising with external ICT support providers
This role is ideal for an experienced ICT technician.
What you'll need to succeed
You’ll bring abination of technical capability, enthusiasm, and a flexible, proactive approach. Essential attributes include:
8. Experience installing and configuring ICT hardware and software
9. Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems
10. Goodmunication skills and the ability to support both staff and students
11. A positive, team‑focused attitude and willingness to learn
12. Experience in a school, knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, server technologies, networking, GPO management or MDM tools will be an advantage but are not essential.
