Interim Associate Director of Corporate Governance

We are seeking an experienced and highly effective Interim Associate Director of Corporate Governance to provide leadership and stability during a period of organisational transition whilst we review our Target Operating Model. This pivotal role will support the delivery of strong corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and high-quality decision making across the Trust.

We are looking for a collaborative, confident, and solutions focused governance professional with NHS experience and the ability to operate at pace in a complex environment. Main duties of the job

You will lead the Governance Team and ensure the smooth, efficient, and well coordinated operation of the Trust Board and its sub committees. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and working closely with the Chair, Chief Executive, and senior leaders, you will help maintain a robust governance framework, strengthen assurance processes, and uphold the Trust's commitment to transparency, accountability and high-quality patient care.

Job responsibilities

All public facing roles require a proportionate level of English language proficiency for written and verbal communication and the Trust is required to verify results of certain English language competency tests relied upon. When the fluency duty is met by the provision of a sign language interpreter, the interpreter should be registered with the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD).


Person Specification


Training & Qualification

* Master's Degree and/or relevant Professional Qualification or demonstrable experience of working at this level.
* Relevant professional qualification such as member of the Chartered Governance Institute (ICSA).


Experience

* Demonstrable experience in a senior manager role within the NHS or similar complex public sector organisation, with evidence of extensive engagement at Executive and Non-Executive Board level
* Experience of legal/governance issues, relevant statutes and regulatory law frameworks
* A track record of implementing robust systems of internal control to support corporate governance
* Experience of providing a secretariat service to a Board, Committee, Council or equivalent of a complex organisation, with a clear vision of best practice in this field
* Demonstrate ability to develop and deliver governance improvement
* A current understanding of key national healthcare issues and NHS policy


Knowledge & Skills

* Ability to identify significant issues, being astute at identifying political sensitivities and emerging threats and opportunities in an adaptable and complex changing environment
* Ability to manage positive relationships with external companies or bodies
* Highly effective communication skills - must be able to articulate complex issues to a wide range of recipients, both written and verbally, with tact, sensitivity and diplomacy.
* Ability to assimilate and understand the work of the Trust, its policy context, operational issues, and challenges
* Demonstrable evidence of project management experience and the delivery of objectives
* An understanding of the Mental Health challenges within communities
