NexGen Consultancy LTD are working with a growing and well-established precision engineering company based in Welwyn Garden City, supplying high-quality components to the aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, and defence sectors.
They are now seeking a Trainee Sliding Head Operator to join the team. If you have some experience with sliding head lathes and are looking to develop your skills further in a supportive and forward-thinking company, this could be the perfect opportunity.
The Role:
As a Sliding Head Operator, you will:

Operate and assist in the setup of sliding head CNC lathes (Citizen or Star experience ideal, but not essential)
*
Work with tight tolerances and follow technical drawings
*
Learn to monitor and adjust machine settings for optimum performance
*
Carry out basic quality checks using hand tools and measuring equipment
*
Work closely with experienced engineers and receive hands-on training
*
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
The Ideal Candidate:
*
Some prior experience operating sliding head lathes (even at a basic level)
*
Familiarity with precision machining or manufacturing environments
*
Ability to read or interpret engineering drawings (training can be given)
*
Willingness to learn and take direction
*
Reliable, punctual, and a good team player
*
Keen to develop into a more senior machining or programming role over time
