An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. JLR is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics PCB Librarian to join out Hardware group to engage in the development of electronic products including PCB footprints / component symbols and PCB layouts for use on electronic modules / ECUs.
The PCB Engineer will deliver the product, working closely with the Electronic Design Engineers, based on clear vision of the strategy defined by the Product Owner.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical PCB capability and undertake PCB footprint / layout design activities for the module / ECUs design, manufacturing and introduction of electronic modules / ECUs for JLR programmes.
As a PCB Librarian, you’ll be working as part of a growing squad responsible for the delivery of hardware modules at JLR, meeting defined targets and attributes (technical and commercial – on cost, quality and time).
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Creation and maintenance of PCB library components / foot prints for the design of PCBs for Electrical Modules / ECUs in automotive applications.
2. Production of detailed design requirements, documentation and specifications for PCB development.
3. Design and preparation for manufacturing readiness, volume production and validation.
4. Support the creation and maintenance of PCB design rules, guidelines and constraints for use during the PCB design process.
5. Development to ensure compliance with relevant manufacturing standards.
6. Support the development of the Hardware Design Processes and methodologies, including Electronic Design (Schematic & PCB), Mechanical Design, validation and industrialisation.
7. Support the delivery of the Module targets specifically for quality, cost and time.
8. Work in a multi-disciplinary team to create and evaluate module concepts, features and alternatives and develop production releases.
9. Support the leadership team to drive function, quality, cost and timing improvements on programmes.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
10. Extensive experience of working as a PCB component library / Design Engineer - within the Automotive, Aerospace or similar environment.
11. Degree in Electronics Engineering or similar technical qualifications or relevant industry experience.
12. Comprehensive experience in PCB layout and footprint generation from concept to high volume mass production.
13. Component library creation and management (PCB footprints and device parameter capture)
14. Have a good understanding of the following: Power supply topologies, interfacing to microcontrollers, power switching, motors, analogue design, digital circuits, high speed serial interfaces, EMC, stability analysis, vehicle network hardware.
15. Experience with Power Integrity, Signal integrity, parametric validation of PCB layout / traces
