Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a band 6 Charge nurse/Sister on the Head and Neck inpatient ward at New Cross Hospital. B7 is a 16 bedded unit looking after a wide range of patients with either Max Fax issues or ENT issues. The ward supports both emergency and elective patients.
You will be required to take charge of this unit on a day‑to‑day basis, completing clinical duties, managing patient flow and bed‑space capacity, deputising to the Senior Sisters, completing clinical audits and safety checks, leading emergency situations, and acting as a role model to all other members of staff.

Responsibilities
* Delivering safe and effective clinical practice.

* Report incidents and near misses promptly; take effective action to minimise future risk.
* Practice in such a way that ensures efficient and effective use of resources.
* Critically appraise and synthesise the outcomes of relevant research and audits, applying the information to improve practice.

* Support junior members of staff, unregistered staff and students.
* Delegate effectively and appropriately.
* Assist in the induction of new staff.

* Adhere to and promote Trust and Directorate policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Participate in audits as required by the ward or department.

Person Specification
* Essential
* Band 5 experience.
* NMC registered with active PIN.
* Airway competent.
* Desirable
* Evidence of working within a head and neck setting.
* Degree or working towards a degree.
