University Hospitals Sussex Trust has opportunities for a radiographer to join our hardworking teams based at St Richard's Hospital Chichester.

We are looking for a highly-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. You will be given the opportunity to expand your knowledge in a diverse range of Nuclear Medicine applications as part of a multi-disciplinary team, whose aim is to provide a polite, friendly and patient-focused service to patients.

Main duties of the job

You will be mentored through a comprehensive induction programme using NM equipment and radiation protection principles for handling, preparing and potentially administering radioactive substances. The role includes rotation through all areas of the general departments, theatres and fluoroscopy.

Our departments are focused on providing an excellent level of service for our patients and a supportive environment for our staff. We support continual learning and development.

We require all radiographers to have a positive attitude to team working and good organisational and communication skills.

Please note that all qualified applicants must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography, Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent and HCPC registration.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Communications and Relationship skills - (Factor 1)

1. Promote good interdisciplinary working relationships
2. Communicate complex and sensitive information
3. To maintain good communications with other health care professionals and departments to ensure excellent delivery of service
4. Possess good verbal English
5. To proactively work as a team to achieve a common goal

Analytical and Judgemental skills - (Factor 3)

6. To independently assess and justify examinations according to the IR(ME)R 2017 regulations using departmental protocols as appropriate
7. To assess and evaluate the quality of images using experience and training, undertaking further projections as necessary and taking advice when appropriate

Planning and Organisational skills - (Factor 4)

8. To fully participate in on-call and standby duties as required
9. To work according to the needs of the department by taking part in all department rotas i.e. daily, weekend, bank holiday, early and late duties
10. To use clinical knowledge and understanding to organise and prioritise patient imaging
11. To be able to work autonomously and as part of a team

Patient/ Client Care - (Factor 6)

12. To be familiar with all aspects of patient preparation and procedures for general and more specialised examinations advising patients, staff and carers to gain informed consent before proceeding
13. To ensure safe patient care and welfare whilst under the care of the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

15. Diagnostic Radiography qualification
16. HCPC registered
17. 2 years post qualification experience

Desirable criteria

18. Evidence of mentoring/supervising students
19. Evidence of cross sectional imaging experience
20. Evidence of medicines management
21. Evidence of radiation protection awareness
