Occupational Therapist – Adults Social Care
Location: Barnet
Pay Rate: £39.93 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid working (1–2 days per week in the office and in-person meetings every other week)
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care team in Barnet. This role focuses on promoting independence and safety through major housing adaptations, manual handling assessments, and equipment provision, delivering practical solutions that make a real difference to people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Complete comprehensive functional assessments in line with the Care Act
2. Participate in duty triaging, screening and signposting referrals prior to allocation
3. Design and recommend major housing adaptations (e.g. level-access showers, stairlifts, ramps)
4. Prescribe and arrange minor and major equipment to meet assessed needs
5. Undertake manual handling risk assessments and develop safe moving and handling plans
6. Liaise with contractors, housing teams and grants officers to progress adaptation works
7. Maintain accurate case records and produce professional reports for funding and safeguarding purposes
Mandatory Experience and Requirements:
8. HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
9. Experience within community-based adult social care
10. Strong knowledge of housing adaptations, equipment provision and manual handling
11. Understanding of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and relevant adaptation legislation
12. Experience working with contractors and housing teams
13. Ability to use electronic case management systems
