We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent General Building Engineer to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Cardiff, Knox Rd, Cardiff CF24 0UG. This role is based on‑site and the standard hours of work are 39 hours.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring availability of critical parts for statutory tasks and managing remedial tasks in the CAFM system.
* Performing general and semi‑skilled maintenance activities, including security systems like CCTV and alarms.
* Conducting monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, fire hydrants, and hoses.
* Completing quarterly RCD testing and inspecting misting units.
* Maintaining fire doors and performing flushing and tap temperature tests as per water risk assessments.
* Undertaking monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
* Checking and testing smoke vents as required.
* Carrying out any other duties as required.
Qualifications
* Fire door maintenance, extinguisher maintenance and alarm core points.
* Emergency lighting.
* RCD.
* Water temperature testing.
* IT skills.
* Ideally experience in multiple areas of maintenance and experience within a custodial environment.
* Basic health and safety knowledge and exposure to building and system compliance.
