To support the safe and efficient running of the hazardous waste site by undertaking driving duties, operational tasks, and equipment operation in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly, ensuring compliance with road safety laws and site transport procedures.
· Transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials as required, following all safety and environmental guidelines.
· Load, secure, and unload waste, containers, and equipment using appropriate handling methods.
· Carry out general operational duties, including assisting with waste segregation, storage, and processing on site.
· Operate plant, machinery, and equipment (including FLTs where trained and authorised).
· Complete daily vehicle and equipment checks, reporting defects promptly to ensure operational safety.
· Accurately complete all required paperwork, including waste transfer notes and delivery documentation.
· Follow company procedures for handling, labelling, and storing hazardous materials in line with environmental regulations.
· Adhere to site health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times, including the correct use of PPE.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to achieve operational targets.
· Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support site operations.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
· Full, valid UK driving licence
· Previous experience in an operational, transport, or waste-handling environment
· Understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
· Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous materials
· Good communication skills and teamworking ability
· ADR awareness or qualification
Desirable:
· Forklift Truck (FLT) licence (Counterbalance or Reach)
· Experience working on hazardous waste or environmental sites
