Exciting Opportunity: Finance Assistant (x2 – Fixed Term for 12 months, Full Time 37 hours per week)
We are delighted to offer two exciting opportunities for motivated and ambitious finance professionals to join our Adult Social Care Finance team as Finance Administrators.
These are two full‑time, fixed‑term posts for 12 months: one supporting the Central team and one supporting the Northern locality. Both roles sit within a high‑profile, fast‑paced service area and offer a fantastic opportunity to contribute to work that makes a genuine and positive difference to services and communities.
The roles would suit individuals who are confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills and, comfortable working with IT systems. An understanding of basic core accounting principles is essential, along with the ability to organise and prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines, and consistently deliver high-quality work.
You will join a supportive, collaborative, and experienced finance team, gaining valuable exposure to complex financial management within the operational services.
Key Responsibilities
1. To be responsible for day-to-day processing and management of financial Information through CareFirst. This includes the scrutinising and checking for reasonableness, completeness and accuracy of a variety of financial documents, including those with complex contractual arrangements, the processing of account payments and collection of income.
2. Investigate queries from service providers and others, liaising with other areas of DCC to achieve resolution, escalating issues as required.
3. To provide day to day operational advice and information on financial matters as requested.
4. To assist the Accountant and Assistant Account in compiling information for management reports.
5. To help cover the other Finance Administrators in their absence.
6. Promote strong financial governance and best practice, ensuring compliance with regulations while supporting continuous improvement and service transformation.
Location
7. Based at County Hall, Exeter with the possibility of an alternative location subject to negotiation. Some travel to other sites may be required. Flexible working options may be available, subject to service delivery and business needs.
