Job Description
Main Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undergo a multi-trade apprenticeship over a maximum of two years, aiming to become fully trained in the following areas:
* Assist the HR Manager and Director with planning the use, maintenance, and security of premises, facilities, and equipment.
* Organize or carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance of premises, facilities, and equipment.
* Ensure compliance with legal, organizational, and best practice standards relating to Fire Safety, Security, Asbestos Management, and Legionella prevention, including maintaining logbooks regularly.
* Assist in procuring and managing external contractors, goods, and equipment.
* Monitor service quality, effectiveness, and costs, taking corrective actions as needed.
* Set up rooms for meetings or training sessions as required.
* Support the delivery of various training interventions, including Skillbuild, Mobile Training Unit, and Scaffolding.
* Perform key holder duties when necessary.
* Liaise with tenants regarding building maintenance issues.
* Ensure proper purchasing, storage, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and consumables.
* Operate various equipment safely and competently, such as ride-on lawnmowers, strimmers, saws, drills, fire alarm systems, and IT equipment.
* Safely drive CITB NI van to transport goods, equipment, or personnel.
Entry Criteria
Applicants should have a Grade D or above in Maths, English, and ICT, or be willing to work towards these qualifications with training provided for the missing one. The apprenticeship will be delivered at CITB NI premises at Nutts Corner Training Centre by People 1st, starting September 2025, via day release one day per week.
Minimum age is 18 to facilitate training for forklift operation and van driving.
Additional Requirements
* Ability to manage general maintenance tasks proactively.
* Strong aptitude in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or joinery trades.
* Willingness to undertake caretaking/janitorial duties, including dirty jobs.
* Possession or willingness to obtain a forklift truck license.
* Valid driving license for van operation.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations relevant to premises management.
* IT literacy and ability to set up audio-visual equipment.
* Knowledge of fire panels and security systems.
* Trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or joinery.
Personal Commitments
Attendance outside regular hours may be required, including early starts between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, on a rota basis.
