Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Band 7 Midwife to join our North Central London Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS). The role delivers specialist care to women and birthing people across community locations and contributes to an evidence-based service to improve pelvic health outcomes during pregnancy and postnatally.
You will work as an autonomous practitioner alongside physiotherapists to provide holistic assessment, early intervention, and person-centred support for pelvic floor dysfunction. The role includes leading clinics, offering specialist advice, and supporting pathways.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist midwife expertise across the North Central London Local Maternity Neonatal Service (LMNS) and support development of the PPHS.
* Lead clinics and offer specialist advice; support pathways and multidisciplinary working with Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapists in community PPHS clinics.
* Strengthen early identification of pelvic health symptoms, promote preventative strategies, and support recovery through education and targeted interventions.
* Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Upskill maternity staff through training, mentorship, and dissemination of current best practice in perinatal pelvic health.
* Collaborate with colleagues across LMNS to deliver services across local maternity and neonatal systems.
* Support travel to other NCL LMNS sites on occasion for audit and training as required.
Location and Travel
Working locations may include Community Health/Children’s Centres in Islington, Haringey, and/or Camden, and the Whittington and University College London Hospitals. Travel to other NCL LMNS sites may be required occasionally for audits and training.
Service Priorities
* Embed evidence-based practice in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to prevent and mitigate pelvic health issues related to pregnancy and childbirth.
* Improve identification rates of pelvic health issues antenatally and postnatally.
* Ensure timely access to NICE-recommended treatments for common pelvic health issues.
* Develop, pilot, implement, and audit a new screening tool to identify women at higher risk of pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD).
* Develop and implement training and audit programs to ensure consistent OASI care bundle standards across Trusts.
