We are working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Birmingham to recruit an Unqualified Teacher to join their team on a temporary basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with experience leading groups of young people to take on a classroom-based position and make a positive contribution to students’ education.
As an Unqualified Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering lessons that have been planned by the class teacher. You will supervise the class, explain the work set, answer questions where appropriate, and ensure that all students remain on task. The role will involve managing behaviour in line with the school’s policies, fostering a respectful and calm learning environment, and encouraging pupils to take pride in their work.
You may be working with different year groups across a range of subjects, so adaptability and flexibility are key. While you will not be expected to create lesson plans or assess work, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning, supporting the school’s routines, and building positive relationships with students and staff alike.
The school is looking for someone who is reliable, professional, and confident in leading a classroom. Strong behaviour management skills are essential, as is the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities. This role would suit candidates with previous experience in education, youth work, sports coaching, tutoring, or similar fields where they have taken responsibility for the supervision and guidance of young people.

Experience: Prior experience as a cover supervisor or leading a classroom is essential
Qualification: Degree level or equivalent
