Pharmacy are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, self‑motivated and physically active person to join the Pharmacy team and fill the crucial role of Pharmacy Porter.
This Pharmacy Porter is responsible for the delivery of medication and pharmaceutical supplies to wards, departments and clinics throughout Conquest Hospital in a timely manner to support safe and efficient treatment and discharge of patients.
The role is physically active and involves the loading and delivery of large quantities of heavy (12 kg max) IV fluid boxes, so it is suitable for individuals seeking a physically demanding position.
Main duties of the job
* The safe and secure delivery of medication and pharmaceutical products to wards, departments and clinics around Conquest Hospital.
* The collection of medication no longer required, and the collection of empty distribution boxes and pharmacy medication pouches.
* The delivery of controlled drugs securely to wards and departments, ensuring an accurate audit trail is maintained.
* Assisting with enquiries at pharmacy reception.
* Assisting with the accurate filing of all pharmacy documentation.
Requirements
* Highly motivated and organised, able to manage own workload to provide the most efficient delivery service.
* Minimum level of physical fitness required, as the role is physically active and involves moving large quantities of heavy IV boxes (max 12 kg); an electronic trolley is available for use around the hospital.
* Excellent communication skills to ensure safe and effective delivery and handover of medication; regular communication with the wider pharmacy team and ward staff is essential.

Qualifications
* Good general level of education including GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent).
* NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy.
Experience
* Health service experience.
* Stock control experience.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
* Ability to lift and handle potentially heavy boxes.
* Good written and verbal communication skills for communicating with pharmacy team members, public and other healthcare professionals.
* Demonstrated ability to work well as a team member.
* Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
* Knowledge of pharmacy procedures.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety.
