SEN Casework Officer Wanted! Come and join the SEN Statutory Service at Hove Town Hall. We are a well-established team delivering a statutory service for children and young people in the city who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are looking for an efficient and hardworking SEN Casework Officer to ensure the right statutory provision is available at the right time for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Working within the legislative framework, you will be responsible for co-ordinating the assessment, writing and the review of Education Health and Care (EHC) plans and other aspects of special educational needs of individual pupils. You will have a caseload related to a defined group of schools, colleges or geographical area, and will work closely with parents, carers and professionals from a range of voluntary and statutory agencies. While a background in education, social care or special educational needs are advantageous, they are not essential. You will need to evidence excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to relate well to parents, carers and professionals. You will also need to demonstrate strong communication, prioritisation and negotiation skills. In addition, you will be efficient, meticulous and able to work at pace. You will be working to challenging deadlines and will need to have a flexible approach but will have a supportive team of experienced casework officers and managers around you. There is an emphasis on team working and striving for continuous improvement to our service, within a customer care environment. Additional information Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only. Please note that this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
