About Our Client
We are currently recruiting for a Financial Controller to join our client, a niche business based in North Kent on a full time and permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background and demonstrable involvement in business strategy, commercial thinking and leading projects.
As Financial Controller, you will drive financial control, enhance reporting processes, and streamline day-to-day operations to better support the business' growth trajectory.
Job Description
Financial Controller duties include;
* Produce monthly balance sheet reviews for review with FD ensuring any discrepancies are fully investigated and rectified.
* Ensure monthly journals are being processed in a timely and accurate manner and that robust reconciliations are in place, and are maintained.
* Ensure there is a clear audit trail between Group reporting and other internal and statutory reporting.
* Review and ensure that the VAT returns are subject to robust review ahead of submission and raise queries.
* Maintenance of PO and invoice approval matrix, working with IT to introduce a more productive PO process.
* Ownership of day-to-day audit process ensuring audit is taken to completion efficiently and audit fees are minimised.
* Collaborate with FD to develop a reliable, data driven, cash forecasting model, ensuring forecast is kept up to date with actuals and evolving cashflow expectations.
* Work with the FD to develop and embed a finance lead business partnering culture within the business.
* Team Management (6 reports) - ensuring effective distribution of workload, always seeking out efficiency opportunities and systems and process improvements.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Financial Controller should have/ be:
* Formally qualified (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or QBE with relevant experience
* Previous people/ team management experience is required
* Strong management accounting and business partnering experience, with expertise in financial controls, management reporting and cost analysis
* Financial Modelling experience desirable
* Previous system implementation experience ideal (will be moving onto MS Dynamics)
* A commercial mindset, able and willing to offer insight on both opportunities and potential risks.
* The ability to clearly communicate technically complex financial issues.
* Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organisation skills and a flexible approach to dealing with deadlines.
* Strong analytic skills and high levels of attention to detail.
