Customs Clearance Specialist – Night & Day Shifts
Location: Dover
Salary: Up to £36,000 (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Permanent | Full Time
Shifts: 2 days (07:00–19:00), 1 night off, 2 nights (19:00–07:00), followed by 4 days off
Transport: Own transport an advantage
About the Role
Join a well-established and growing freight forwarding team handling UK and international shipments
Take responsibility for end-to-end customs clearance, supporting a mix of imports, exports and transit movements
Perfect for candidates experienced in CDS/E-Customs and night/day shift working

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit import, export and transit customs declarations using CDS, CNS, Destin8, and Descartes
Manage procedures including Home Use, Temporary Admission, T1 Transit, CFSP, Customs Warehousing and Exports
Classify goods accurately using the UK Global Tariff and ensure documentation is complete
Liaise with HMRC, port authorities, internal teams and clients to ensure compliant and efficient clearances
Handle post-entry amendments, queries and customs documentation audits
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK customs legislation and regulatory changes
Work closely with freight, transport and warehouse teams to meet strict deadlines
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ experience in customs clearance (import/export) within freight forwarding or logistics
Strong knowledge of UK customs procedures, CDS/E-Customs, and commodity classification
Confident user of CNS, Destin8, and Descartes
Experience working night shifts or rotating shift patterns
Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously
Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a shift-based team
Exposure to road freight or multimodal operations is advantageous
