A School in Colchester is seeking a Graduate Tutor to join their specialist team from September. This full-time, permanent role offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Working closely with qualified teachers and therapists, you'll play a vital part in delivering tailored learning and mentoring support to small groups or individuals who benefit from structure, patience, and care.
Whether you're exploring teaching, psychology, counselling or youth work - this role provides a strong foundation and valuable CPD in a specialist environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students with SEMH needs through targeted 1:1 and small group sessions
* Assist with behaviour management, engagement, and emotional regulation
* Adapt learning tasks under teacher guidance to meet individual needs
* Help create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
* Track pupil progress and contribute to pastoral and academic records
* Work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals
Qualifications and Experience
* Passion for education and supporting young people
* Degree-level qualification (any subject welcome)
* Interest in SEMH, psychology, or youth support
* Calm, resilient, and adaptable approach
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Willingness to learn and contribute positively to the team
