Occupational Health Mental Health Case Manager

The closing date is 09 February 2026

We are seeking two experienced Registered Mental Health Nurses to join an established Occupational Health team. The main base is a short walk from Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. This is an exciting opportunity as the Occupational Health Service is expanding to provide OH services across University Hospitals Sussex.

The post-holders will focus on mental wellbeing and ill health, and the impact this has on ability to work. The post-holders will work autonomously and as part of the OH team.

* RMN with evidence of working in an autonomous role.
* Ability to work flexibly in line with the demands of the service
* Good organisational, planning and time management skills
* Ability to make decisions, prioritise and work autonomously within clinical supervision parameters
* Proficient computer skills and ability to produce high quality OH reports
* Experience of working within an NHS OH Service
* Experience of working with neurodivergent clients.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.


Main duties of the job

* Provide expert mental health advice and education to staff, managers and HR.
* Carry out initial psychological support and counselling needs assessments
* To assess fitness to work and provide recommendations including adjustments and advice, taking into account disability under the Equality Act 2010.
* Produce accurate typed reports following OH assessments.

* To work as a specialist autonomous practitioner, managing own caseload.
* To assess fitness to work and provide recommendations including adjustments and advice, taking into account disability under the Equality Act 2010.
* Produce accurate typed reports following OH assessments.
* Request medical reports where identified additional information is required.
* Responsible and accountable for specialist advice given.
* Recognise where further advice is required and take appropriate action as needed.
* Where identified, liaise with mental health team within ED.
* Undertake and participate in clinical audits.
* Develop and deliver mental health training materials


Person Specification


experience/qualification

* experience at senior level
* experience of working within an NHS OH service
* experience of working with neurodivergent clients
* experience in assessing health and disability
* experience in compiling reports and providing recommendations
* working knowledge of the Equality Act 2010
