Lead clean‑water modelling that protects communities
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking a Senior Clean Water Hydraulic Modeller to deliver modelling, calibration and analytical support across AMP8 and AMP9 programmes. You will construct and maintain hydraulic models (InfoWorks WS, Synergi Water or similar), lead optioneering and analysis studies, assure modelling quality and translate outputs into outline and detailed design inputs. Day‑to‑day you will manage modelling workstreams, line‑manage team members, maintain client relationships and contribute to bids and process improvements for multi‑site, multi‑million‑pound programmes.
Purpose And Scope Of The Role
The role encompasses the development, calibration, and analysis of hydraulic models to support AMP8 and AMP9 programmes.
Your Impact In This Position
In the short term you will strengthen model reliability and evidence used to inform operational decisions. Over the medium term you will lead complex modelling packages, embed improved workflows and mentor colleagues. In the longer term you will shape modelling standards and digital practice across programmes, influence investment decisions that reduce supply risk and progress to principal or technical leadership roles.
Core Capabilities
* Hydraulic modelling leadership – Lead construction, calibration and verification of clean‑water models; translate results into pragmatic option appraisals and design inputs.
* Technical delivery & quality assurance – Ensure modelling outputs meet governance and client specifications, maintain traceable documentation and apply auditable QA processes.
* Team leadership & people development – Line‑manage and mentor modellers, plan workloads, drive performance and promote continuous improvement.
* Commercial & programme management – Own forecasting, resource planning and commercial performance for modelling packages and support bid development.
* Digital & data proficiency – Advanced Excel and scripting capability desirable; experience with GIS (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS) and tools to automate workflows and enhance data quality.
Skills, Qualifications And Experience
Expected: degree in a relevant technical discipline. Desirable: postgraduate study, chartership or working towards it, and professional affiliation (CIWEM, ICE, IWater).
Work patterns & locations
Hybrid working with regional offices across the UK; regular client and site visits may be required. Flexible arrangements considered to support delivery and collaboration.
