A well-established and growing accountancy practice is looking to appoint an experienced Client Director to lead and develop a portfolio of contractor and owner-managed business clients.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ambitious accountancy professional who enjoys building strong client relationships, leading teams, and contributing to the strategic growth of a modern practice.
The successful candidate will oversee and support a team of accountants while managing their own portfolio of primarily contractor clients, acting as a trusted adviser and ensuring consistently high standards of client service and technical delivery.
The environment is fast paced and would particularly suit someone with contractor accounting or high-volume general practice experience who is comfortable managing multiple priorities and reviewing a large volume of work efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and develop a diverse portfolio of clients.
* Act as the main point of contact for clients and build strong long-term relationships.
* Account manage clients effectively, ensuring excellent service levels and retention.
* Lead and support a team of accountants, providing guidance, mentoring, and technical oversight.
* Review accounts work and ensure deadlines are met within a fast-paced environment.
* Provide strategic business, tax, and accounting advice.
* Lead client meetings and present commercial recommendations.
* Oversee the delivery of accounts, tax compliance, and advisory services.
* Identify opportunities for business development and portfolio growth.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience within a general practice accountancy environment is essential.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge across contractor and owner-managed business clients.
* Experience working within a fast-paced accountancy practice environment.
* Contractor accounting experience would be highly advantageous.
* Proven experience managing and supporting a team of accountants.
* Strong client relationship and account management skills.
* ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
* Commercially minded with excellent communication skills.
* Comfortable advising business owners and senior stakeholders.
* Ability to manage workloads efficiently and maintain high service standards.
* Business development experience would be advantageous.
