Overview
Anns Care Homes are a family run business established in 1994. We are recruiting for a Maintenance Operative for Seapatrick Care Home. The role involves carrying out skilled DIY and general maintenance to uphold high standards in line with regulation and legislation. This includes general carpentry, plumbing, tiling and flooring, painting and decorating, and regular checks of private and public areas. You will liaise with domestic assistance/housekeeping/care staff and perform jobs as required. Day To Day Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance to agreed codes, legislation, and procedures including health and safety
* Conduct routine Estate checks and maintain accurate records and logs associated with your work
* Become and remain familiar with all building and utility services in the Home, reporting faults when identified
* General plumbing (washers, taps, unblocking toilets/ stacks)
* Operate heating plant in accordance with instructions
* Basic carpentry (locks, architrave, boxing in, assembling furniture, window adjustments, door hardware)
* General tiling (floors and walls) and painting & decorating
* Maintain work and storage areas in a neat, tidy, safe and secure manner
* Basic electrical maintenance (e.g., changing light bulbs)
* Identify hazards and ensure compliance with codes, law and health and safety
* Liaising with domestic assistance/housekeeping/care staff and performing tasks as required
* Provide a courier service for mail and supplies, and delivery of specimens/collection of prescriptions as needed (mileage reimbursed per HMRC guidance)
* Maintain an inventory of tools and equipment and keep them in good repair
* Carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract and agreed requirements
* Meet targets and contribute to the team’s overall performance
* Contribute to the smooth running of the Home and adhere to all organisation policies and procedures
* Provide out-of-hours emergency service and participate in the on-call rota
* Ensure contractors entering and working on site comply with Health and Safety Standards
You will be expected to maintain safety of residents and the homes by:
* Monthly nurse call system checks and addressing faults promptly
* Monthly water temperature checks for safety
* Weekly fire alarm testing with records kept
* Monthly checks of fire exits and fire fighting equipment
* Monthly emergency light testing
* Weekly wheelchairs safety checks
* Monthly bed and bedrail checks
* Monthly room audits and timely repair of listed faults
Essential Criteria
* 6+ months experience in a similar role
* Demonstrable understanding of a wide range of traditional building trades
* Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, and COSHH assessments
* Full driving licence
