The Vale of Glamorgan is currently recruiting for a Service Development Officer to lead on developing a care home strategy for the Local Authority.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the programme that will enable the Vale of Glamorgan Council to develop sustainable accommodation solutions for the ageing population by investigating and making recommendations of solutions that:
1. Meets current needs
2. Builds capacity to meet needs for population projections
3. Identifies rationalisation opportunities to make the best use of existing resources
4. Strengthens the Council’s position to work effectively with the market
5. Maximise opportunities to work in partnership for those with the most complex needs
The intended outcomes of the programme are as follows:
6. Robust, evidence-based recommendations to inform decisions about future accommodation solutions for older people’s nursing needs.
7. Analysis of Extra Care provision
8. Analysis of internal residential homes
9. Analysis of respite provision.
10. Analysis of population projections to predict future need
11. Mobilisation of health and social care requirements to deliver accommodation solutions for older people’s nursing needs.

About the role
Pay Details: Grade 9 (£41,771-46,142)
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Monday- Friday 8.30-17.00
Main Place of Work: The Docks Office & Ty Jenner Barry.
Temporary Reason: 18 month post. Post is to focus on development of the care home strategy.
Description: The Service Development Officer will be based within Resource Management & Safeguarding division (RMS) within the Social Services directorate and report to the Head of RMS. The focus of the role will be to develop the Vale of Glamorgan’s Care Home’s strategy and be a key member of the project board that will be focusing on this project. This is a key strategic review for the Council.
The Population Needs Assessment, Market Stability Report and Annual Market Stability Assessment, all highlight that the need for Residential and Nursing care will continue to rise due to the significant increase in citizens aged over 85, in particular the significant increase in the number of those citizens living with dementia.
This programme will enable the Council to develop sustainable accommodation solutions for the ageing population of the Vale of Glamorgan by investigating and making recommendations of solutions that:

About you
You will need:
24. A recognised Degree/Diploma or equivalent qualification in Health & social care e.g Social Work i.e. Degree, DipSW, CQSW etc. Occupational Therapy degree/diploma
25. To have experience of delivering statutory health or social care
26. To be an organised individual who has the ability to work independently and bring partners together whilst having the aptitude to collate, interrogate and analyse data.
